Proyecto de Ingles del Nivel Secundario
Tema: “Busisness”
Prof. a cargo: Coordinadora Marcela Solis

Dialogue
Mr Harrison and Mrs Grown are talking in an office. Mr Harrison is the boss in the machinery and technologic department and Mrs Grown is the boss in Human resources department. They are discussing because there is a problem with the employees in the 4 sector.
G: Mr Harrison, we have a problem. The employees in the 4 sector are complaining because they said that the machine... Let me read it... SFG996 is working faster.
H: No... No... It isn’t working faster.  All my machines are controlled and supervised by the technical supervisor. And the technical supervisor is a reliable person. They don’t want to work. They are lazy.
G: You aren’t right.
H: No, I’m right. The winter holidays are starting so they don’t want to work.
G: Why don’t you supervise the machine for your own?   }
H: Yes I do.
G: No, your technical supervisor did. I say: you.
H: Why don’t you do it for yourself? In case that the machine is working faster we will arrange it. Anyway Did I tell you that we had bought another KLL566?
G: Pardon? Yes, I'll hire a man to measure the frequency of the machine. And you will realize that you were wrong.
H: Could you finish with the machine’s subject?
G: Ok. And the other machine, the new one. Which is the problem with it?
H.: There isn’t any problem. I just told you. This new model is a robot that is essential for the design of the cars. It has a control panel that allows you to zoom, see each screw. It consumes very little power. And can supplant the work of more than ten men is splendid.
G: Ten men?
H: Oh yeah. I had forgotten to tell him to lay off 30 men. We do not need them.
G: 30 men? Are you joking isn’t it?
H: No. Why? This machine will increase the production of cars. What once was done in two months, now can be done in a month.
G: Sorry. I can not. I can not lay off 30 men. Those 30 men certainly have family. Where will they go? I'm sorry I can not do it.
H: Alright. I'll talk to the manager. He'll lay off you. That will be an investment.
Formal E-mail:
Dear EMI’s manager Company:

I am the director of the Bach’s Conservatory. It is located in San Francisco, United States. We have more than one thousand students, and we have also a lot of musical school in other parts of the country.
I am writing to you because I attended your last seminar “The Future of the music” in Los Angeles in October. I would like to invite you to come to my Conservatory and speak to my faculty about this important topic.
Actually my students are very disappointed because they believe that everybody can compose music. And they also believe that they do not have to study. Please, if you could, send me several available dates. I will coordinate with my staff and contact you with a confirmation and other travel considerations. It would be a pleasure for us that you could attend and give a little speech.
Yours Faithfully,
Gemma Jokstromgen
Director of Bach’s Conservatory.

Our Company:
Name: MotorSpeed Company
This Company was created in 1996 in the garage of Gemma’s father. He taught to his daughter and his friends: Jim, Dean, Mark Jimmy, Sack and Liana the importance of the mechanic. At First they were a little spare-parts business located in front of the Gemma’s house. But everything changed when Gemma went to mechanical school. This was something did not accept by the society because they thought it was not a profession for a woman. She and his father expanded the business of spare-parts and together made the first model of an aerodynamics quadricycle. Soon the old friends were together and everybody contributed. First they had losses but in the following years they had profits.
Our production was always very reliable, but we wanted more. We were big-headed so we change. In 2005, we change our machines and we employ more than 1000 employees more. And now we can said that we are the most important company in the production of motorcycles, quadricycles, bicycles and spare parts.

Sick leave and business:

1.     I guess the difference is in the salary that they earn. Or in the responsibility of the authorities in the company to the employees

2.

a)     I think that women under 40 takes more time off.
b)     I think that employees in public service take more time off.
c)     I think that employees that belong to unions take more time off.

3.     I believe that the most common reason workers give for taking time off is "illness". Because they can lie and pretend the symptoms of a not very serious illness so request a certificate for absence.

4.     People who are off work for long periods. I think that the people who are a long period out of work delay the work of the company, they lose the pace of work and also once incorporated they need time to adapt it.
